Location: Only native to Lake Xochimilco and Lake Chalco in Mexico. Unfortunatly, Lake Chalco no longer exsists. So they only inhabit Lake Xochimilco.
Habitat: Lakes! Fun Facts: Grow up to 12 inches, average life span is 10-15 years, carnivores, close relatives to the tiger salamander. Human Impact: Axolotls dont have an impact on humans. However, Axolotls are considered critically endangered. People in Mexico catch them and are part of the diet in Mexico. |
